Direct. Balanced. Biblically Based.
The counseling I provide is Christ-focused and biblically based. I take a direct and balanced approach to counseling providing support and guidance that integrates both biblical direction together with useful tools and solutions. As a certified Holistic Counselor, I understand that it is important to consider the whole person; body, soul (mind, will, emotions), and spirit. I offer counseling that sees your challenges through the lens of biblical truth. In this way, I am able to offer godly counsel based on the scriptures. I provide the guidance and support you seek in a world where godly counsel is often hard to find.
Counseling services are provided for a donation of your choice, if you are able, but is not required. At this time, counseling sessions are conducted via Zoom and last about 90-minutes. During our initial session, I will listen and gather information about your specific situation and ask questions to gain a better understanding of your current challenge(s). As a follow-up, I will usually recommend ongoing weekly or bi-monthly sessions, depending on your need. At the end of each session, take-aways are assigned which may include reading and writing assignments, listening to audio lessons, or watching video teachings.

We will take a closer look at the following:

Understanding Our Deepest Needs
The counseling I do is based on the understanding that we all have four core foundational needs that can only be met by God. However, if we fail to let God meet these core needs in us, we will attempt to get them met externally in other ways by someone or something else in our lives. This can lead to unrealistic expectations, a life of resentment, chronic disappointment, a rejection mindset, and so on. Our ability to give may also become dependent on what we get from others. To find that inner peace and fulfillment we seek, God needs to be at the center of our lives and relationships. Trying to get these core needs met outside of God is often the root cause of addictions, failed relationships, depression, abuse, chronic anger, codependency, narcissism, a loss of life purpose, rejection, suicide, and so on.
ACCEPTANCE
“I am loved and accepted for who I am in Christ”. When we seek to have our need for love and acceptance met by another person or by our level of accomplishment and performance (e.g., performance based love), we will seek validation externally from others and will be let down. This can lead to us feeling rejected, codependent, and bitter. God demonstrates his love for us through the finished work of Jesus Christ. We are loved and accepted by God through our faith in what Christ did for us, not because of our good works. This teaches us that we either "receive" God's love or we reject it; we don't work for it.
IDENTITY
"I am an adopted child of God and a new creature in Christ”. Knowing our identity (knowing who we are) is a critical step in the healing process. To understand who we are, according to God (not according to the world), we will need to look to the scriptures. As believers, we understand that our new identity "in Christ" means that we have become a part of the family of God and are part of the Body of Christ. Those who are rooted in their identity know they are a child of God with a purposed life.
SECURITY
“I am safe and secure in Christ". If our sense of safety and security is in worldly things (i.e., money, job, house, relationships, health, status, governments, etc.) we will be disappointed because the things of this world are temporary. When we understand our eternal security "in Christ" it is easy to be at peace no matter what is happening around us. God is the only one who can make us feel truly safe and secure.
PURPOSE
“I have a significant purpose in Christ, and there is a reason for my life”. It will be difficult to know what our purpose is when we are not clear about who we are (our identity). Once we know who we are (according to God) then we can begin to understand God's will for our lives. Feeling a loss of life purpose can lead to such things as anger, rejection, depression, addictions, and sometimes suicide. God has a purpose and reason for each of our lives. Our true purpose will align with God's will (e.g., to see people saved and come to the knowledge of the truth) and with serving others in truth and love.
